Zusammenfassung: | This thesis focuses on the issue of wood identification of ancient Egyptian objects. While Egyptian objects normally experience a lot of attention and will be thoroughly investigated scientifically, it seems that actually only a fraction of the wooden objects located in Egyptian museums have been analyzed in terms of their species. The author attempts in addition to a thorough literature search and development of basic knowledge, to merge results of a study from Hildesheims´ Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum with findings of other species studies. Furthermore, in a practical part, some wood samples are taken from the Egyptian collection of the RPM, investigated and determined. To extend the for Conservators important wood identification database "Handelshölzer", some types of woods are selected and its data processed for it. |
