Zusammenfassung: | Microbial hazards are an important issue when dealing with art and cultural assets. The age or nature of objects can lead to the colonization or reactivation of adhering germs. The causes of this vary individually for each object and must be constantly evaluated and assessed. In the case of archaeological art and cultural assets with a burial context, there is usually an increased risk due to organic adhesions, the decomposition process of human remains or the nature of the surrounding soil. Most industries have extensive regulations and guidelines for the safe handling of biological hazards. The situation is different for conservation and restoration activities, where there are few direct work instructions. The following thesis deals with the summary of various legal and non-legal guidelines from other industries with similar topics and summarizes the most important aspects for a risk assessment for working with contaminated objects in conservation and restoration, illustrated by the example of the “Moora”, Lower Saxony´s oldest bog body to date. |
