Zusammenfassung: | The Hallstatt salt mine offers ideal conditions for the preservation of organic materials in an archaeological context due to the preserving effects of the salt. In the course of the thesis the conservation of a block-lifted Iron Age grass and bast basketry in a moisture-saturated state is addressed. Due to the possibility of the preservation of archaeological information in the block recovery, the conservation of the whole find complex is of significance. As a result of the salt content in the finding, the transition of the block recovery into a dry, storable state is bound to challenges. The key focus of the research is the possibility of controlling the salt crystallisation through the drying method. A concluding goal of the work is the preparation for a digital visualisation of the basketry using imaging methods. |
