Zusammenfassung: | The bachelor´s thesis deals with the development of restoration goals for severely acid-damaged papers from the historical records of the Hildesheim City Archive. The focus is on the question of what requirements for mass treatment can be derived from the developed restoration goals. First, the theoretical framework is outlined, which includes the definition of records as unique written material and the problem of acid- and wood-containing papers. The following condition assessment aims to analyze the material condition and historically induced characteristics of two selected documents. Based on the insights gained, the restoration goals are formulated, taking into account restoration ethical considerations and the requirements of the Hildesheim City Archive. In this context, the present work demonstrates that the heterogeneity of the papers and the differentiated damage patterns within a record complicate the application of standardized mass procedures. It becomes clear that modular, adaptable approaches in mass restoration need to be developed to meet the individual object characteristics and damage patterns. |
