Zusammenfassung: | Paper theaters are small three-dimensional stages made from paper that represent the bourgeoisie in the 19th century, symbolizing their retreat into the private sphere, their enthusiasm for theater, their family image and technical change. This bachelor thesis represents the relevance and the challenges concerning the preservation of paper theaters on the basis of the paper theater collection of the Museum für Hamburgische Geschichte (museum of hamburg history). It is focused on the preservation and packaging concerning the worlds of paper. On the basis of a variety of random samples, the collection of the Museum of Hamburg History will be examined in regard to storage and materials. After also categorizing, the packaging will be evaluated according to conservation aspects. Based on this information, a concrete packaging concept will be presented, and, at the same time, the limitations of this concept will be shown. |
