Zusammenfassung: | The condition of the leather binding "3 J 02106" from the Hildesheim Dombibliothek is recorded, described and evaluated. These results are then examined for their interactions. The early modern print with wooden covers, white tawed leather with blind embossing and two fastenings is a typical binding of its time. In addition to mechanical damage to the spine and joints, the end leaves are partially detached, the upper fastening is separated, and the sewing is cracked in various places. An already existing concept (by Juliane Girndt, née Graf) for a remedial conservation of bindings of the Dombibliothek with similar damages focuses on the material-technological challenges of white tawed leathers and is extended by new developed interventions for securing and fixing the separated fastening and the partially cracked sewing. The concept will not be implemented until this bachelor-thesis has been submitted. |
