Zusammenfassung: | The practical part of this diploma thesis included a de-lining followed by the mechanical reduction of partially adhering coller and wax-resin from the painting support in multiple steps. Also, strongly degraded fibers of the canvas were being consolidated. It is being discussed how to deal with the varnish incorporating copper corrosion products. With respect to re-lining the painting, a mist-lining-technique was being conceived. Required modifications needed to be made taking into account the partially wax-resin soaked fabric as well as its protruding edges. The theoretical part deals with artistic impression techniques used in sottoboscopaintings. An art-historical classification is supplemented by the evaluation of the current state of research regarding technological knowledge. Additionally, different easel paintings were being examined in order to analyse common damages occurring on butterfly impressions and to conduct detailed mapping of current preservation conditions. |
