Zusammenfassung: This paper is about five contemporary glass windows created by Dresden-based artist Wolfgang Korn between 2000 and 2003. The windows are located in the chancel of the Church of the Resurrection (Auferstehungskirche) in Dresden-Plauen. Each window consists of several panels of a translucent glass/resin composite-material, where one or sometimes two layers of coloured glass pieces were glued to a pane of carrier glass, using a dyed polyester casting-resin as adhesive. Some glass pieces were refined by sandblasting. A few years following on from their installation, the windows showed first signs of damage with glass pieces falling off. By the year 2015, the adhesion between glass and resin has now decreased significantly. Using various analyses and scientific tests, potential causes for the damage were investigated. It was shown that the climatic conditions have a considerable impact on the damage to the windows. Working on a sample panel, methods for conservation and restoration were developed with the aim of applying them to all five windows. Finally, the paper suggests measures for preventing further damage.
