| Zusammenfassung: | This Master-thesis deals with the 20th-century room-settings in the pavilion of the castle Wilhelmsthal near Eisenach. The building ensemble consisted of several buildings that are aligned with at an axis. To understand the structure of the castle complex, the individual buildings were investigated in detail both architecturally and historically. The main focus was on the Pavilion of the New Castle. In this part of the building we can find the stairway and meeting rooms and the reception, which needed to be meticulously examined. The selected areas were developed under the influence of various architects and therefore they offer different possibilities for comparing different interventions in historic fabric of the building. Despite the use-related changes and subsequent years of vacancy of the building, the constructional unity of the fabric remained largely intact. Another part of this work was to record the current state and so initially involved extensive enquiry and architectural research. For this purpose, a detailed measuring of the rooms was executed. The aim was to obtain a precise overview of the changes in the individual phases. Based on these findings, targeted version-investigations were carried out and graphic illustrations of the various room-settings were created. With regard to a concept of measures to secure the current condition of the building, a survey was conducted and summarised in a classification of damages. This serves as a base for the arguments of the urgently needed conservation measures. Relating to the further use of the building, several options for an intervention to restore the historical room-settings are discussed. |
