Zusammenfassung: The ruins of Hattuscha, the capital of the Hittite empire in central Anatolia display a vast amount of impressive architectural buildings. When compared with the Lion- and Sphinxgate, the Lionbasin, which was excavated almost a century ago, seems almost forgotten. Currently, it is the concern of the recent excavation lead by PD Dr. Andreas Schachner, that the Lionbasin, which is located in the front of Temple 1, will be restored.
This Bachelor-Thesis analyses and allocates the traces of long lost ages, which can be found on the object. Based on the information given, a plan for further presentation can be established. In this year’s excavation-campaign, it was only possible to relocate the fragments, which is why all given suggestions for further presentations are in a digital format. The possibilities of an upcoming presentation vary from a very minimalistic version, i.e. the simple rearranging of the fragments to a continuation of the restoration up to a complete reconstruction.
