Zusammenfassung: The 'Predigerkirche' in Erfurt is one of the early settlements of the Dominican Order and an outstanding example of the mendicant order architecture. As part of a Bachelor-Thesis, the fragmentary remains of a mediaeval painting, located in the western part of the southern Choir Screen Paintings were researched in 2012/13. To obtain information about the materials, techniques and content, the history of the fragments had been researched as well as chemical, microscopical and radiation analyses performed. As a result, it was confirmed that the painting had either been executed in exclusively in oil or may have an addition of protein with following composition: 1. lime mortar, 2. base-coat of lime-wash, 3. layer of red-lead (pure oil), 4.underdrawing (brush), 5.main painting layer, 6.modelling highlights. Some pigments could be identified from the remains: red lead, white lead, yellow ochre, red ochre, carbon black and copper (verdigris or malachite). The fragmentary condition of the painting prevents the illustration from being revealed. So it can only be supposed that four standing figures in green and ochre robes were depicted. On the basis of the results a conservation-concept had been developed, the execution of which would make the completion of the conservation of the southern Choir Screen possible.
