Zusammenfassung: | In 1796, the Eremitage was built, hidden of a thicket in this park. The Eremitage is built as a type of staffage in this landscape and was used as location of seclusion and contemplation. The appearance of a primitive wood workers shelter was only an illusionistic understatement. The visitor entered inside in an elliptic salon fitted with an elaborate Boiserie, based on a draft of Carl Gotthard Langhans. The impression of the room was dominated by the marquetries of local woods and carvings of mathematical and astronomical instruments. In 1964, when the border installations between the both german states was expanded, the building was pulled down, because it was exactly situated on the border. The panels could be saved and have been storaged in different places. Unfortunately and have been exposed different types of wood- destroying organism. Today the wall-paneling exists only in fragments. Intention of these investigations was to check the conditions and the real amount of preserved fragments of the panels. The investigation had two main objectives: On the one hand, to stop the progressive decay while getting off the fragments of these inappropriate storage conditions and to increase awareness for the object. On the other hand to answer the question, if a conservation, restoration or reconstruction is possible and if the possibility for a replacement of the wall-panelling on his original location exist. An in a final step to find methods of resolution for a future handling. |
