Zusammenfassung: | Due to the commercial activities between the Dutch and Japanese from the beginning of the 17th century, a huge amount of lacquer ware, especially produced for the Export market, is introduced into Europe. Soon these works are common place in European Interiors, often by integrating them into furniture. The cabinet of the Rijksmuseum is decorated with seaweed-marquetry and combined with different parts of export furniture containing the lacquer. A specialty of the lacquer work is the sprinkled ray fish grain. With extensive research concerning the history, materials and condition a comprehensive overview of the object is presented and an appropriate treatment concept is worked out which is partially implemented. |
