Zusammenfassung: | At Buddhist Temples of Nako in Western Himalayas earthen renders make up supports for painted walls, ceilings and sculptures. To preserve the renderings as integral parts of interior decorations dating back to 12th century AD, systematic investigations were carried out: study of local building traditions, render analyses, and valuation of earthen plaster consolidation methods. Based on the results, field tests on site were set up to optimize proved methods and to establish traditional earthen plastering for future interventions. The thesis contributes to a main project (Nako Research and Pre¬¬servation Project – NRPP) aimed at sustaining the authentic Temple compound and keeping traditions in Nako alive. |
