Zusammenfassung: The technique used to manufacture Galvano core sculptures is a special technology designed for the serial production of sculptures at the turn of the nineteenth to the twentieth century. This manufacturing technology implies that cooper is electrolytically deposited onto a plaster core. Most Galvano core sculptures that are located outdoors show after a period of about one hundred years extensive damage. The key issue is caused by the manufacturing technology itself. The result is the gradual destruction of the entire sculpture. The subject of this thesis concerns the realization of a concept for the conservation and restoration of such a Galvano core sculpture. The central focus lies in the new supporting structure, the joining of copper, the maximum preservation of the metallic precipitation as well as the original patina.
