Overview:

Abstract: This Masterthesis is concerned with one polychrom calm mirror with framework from the country house Rücker in Hamburg Hamm. The mirror belongs to several decorative installations, which 1908 were purchased by the museum for Hamburg history. These installations should be installed into the building of the museum building at the beginning of the 20-century. The project was never converted, so that the objects disappeared in the depot until in 2009 when they were rediscovered.
The first part of this work is about the object with its art and cultural history. With the knowledge of the technological investigation follows the treatment concept for the preservation. The second part of the work contains the restoration concept regarding the possibilities of a temporary presentation of the mirror in the museum with the long-term goal of a permanent installation of the whole ensemble of the country house Rücker to its originally thought place in the Museum for Hamburg History.
