Overview:  
Abstract: The Medal Cabinet with the facade of the Mauritshuis was examined with the
help of conservation and scientific examination methods. The controversial dating of
the object in the catalogues of the early 20th century and the current inventory of the
Rijksmuseum have lead to the goal of this thesis. Furthermore, Medal Cabinets in
general have not been researched thoroughly thus far, aside from a publication by
Sigrid Sangl in Pracht und Zeremoniell. Die Möbel der Residenz München, an exhibition
catalogue from 2003.
However, the various examinations have lead to the establishment of a new time
period between 1775 and 1825.
