Saving Cultural Heritage

Projects around the Mediterranean

The Mediterranean countries possess cultural treasures of outstanding quality. The exhibition, which takes place in the context of the MEDA programme of the European Union, gives a unique overall view of selected cultural values and the various different methods used to preserve them for future generations. The range of cultural heritage presented goes from buildings, sculptures and manuscripts to glass painting and wood carvings with marquetry. The time span streches from 27.000-year-old Paleolithic rock engravings in the Côa Valley in Portugal to the Tunisian palace of Baron d'Erlanger, which dates back to the early 20th century. The contemporary Floating Sails add a unifying visual perspective.
