Abstract: The font, made of bronze, belongs to St. Marien church in Prenzlau and was manufactured about A. D. 1400. The font is formed like a goblet and stands on three lying animal figures. Three human figures are fixed to its outside. There can be seen historical damages like cracks and breakages, wich are partly caused by the sand body, as well as fire damage, bronze and iron corrosion. This paper deals with the research of the materials, the manufacturing process and the unity of all elements, as well as the cleaning of the surface with microparticle-blasting, the conservation with microcrystalline wax and the reconstruction of the object.
