Abstract: | The baroque gilt leather wallpapers in the billiard room of Moritzburg Castle were comprehensively examined. This provided previously unknown facts about the provenance of the gilt leather panels, the production process, the painting technique and the degree of revision. Based on the results, the current preservation state was assessed, and necessary actions were derived. Subsequently, a conservation and restoration plan was developed and practically implemented on a small area. Numerous test series were conducted to determine suitable materials and methods. |
