Abstract: | The two stone columns are situated inside one of the few still existing renaissance buildings in West-Styria. Contrary to the existing information the columns are made of sandstone and can probably dates back to the early Middle Ages. Originally, they were situated in a different historic (most likely sacral) building. Within the framework of the dissertation some theories were developed regarding their possible origin. These foot on the results of the different analyses concerning materials and technology as well as the state of preservation. The observations as well as the current location of the columns were decisive for drafting a suitable concept of treatment measures as well as the subsequent conservation. |
