Abstract: | The present bachelor´s thesis deals with the restoration documentation of the sculptures in the courtyard on the north side of Marienburg Castle in Pattensen. These life-sized sculptures depict Kurfürst Ernst August and Heinrich der Löwe and were crafted by sculptor Heinrich Natter for Cumberland Castle in Austria. The work includes research, photographic documentation, phenomenological and scientific investigations, in order to assess and document the production technique / technology and condition of the sculptures. The history and historical background of the sculptures will be investigated. The evaluation of the results of this investigation will create the base to develop a conservation restauration plan, including preventive and invasive conservation restoration interventions. |
