Abstract: | The present bachelor thesis by Alina Heimann is a documentation of the results of a restorative assessment of the wall paintings in the Morning Hall, painted by artist Otto Knille in 1869, located at Marienburg Castle in Pattensen. It was only through the openings in 2015 that it became known that the previously assumed paintings were still preserved. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to comprehensively assess and evaluate the condition and preservation of the wall paintings as an exemplification. The object was examined phenomenologically and radiographically, with a study of the artist and a photographic documentation of the phenomena providing insights into the state of preservation and the processes of deterioration since the uncovering. The findings of this work will serve as a basis for developing a concept for the conservation and restoration of the paintings. |
