Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the sewing techniques of books from the 18th century.
The aim is a structured presentation of these sewing techniques and its comparison with the help of various literature. This thesis will explain the technique of single and double bands, as well as the alternating stitch and the stitching with a sawn back.
In addition, an example from the Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek in Göttingen will be used to show whether the techniques gathered from the literature can also be applied.
