This Bachelor-Thesis deals with a mural painting, located in a corner room ofcastleElisabethenburg in Meiningen (Thuringia). The painting has been executedin secco-technique and represents a landscape. The aim of this work was to establish new insights into the construction and the arrangement of the muralas well as the appliedpainting techniques and finally the different types of damage and their causes, through investigation of the extant and the condition. The knowledge thus gained was supported by various scientific examinations.On the basis of this new knowledge,it was possible to consider various preventive measures as well as conservation and restoration treatments.
