The present thesis deals with the so called „Wolkengesichtern“ in the mediaeval stained-glass windows of the west choir of Naumburg cathedral. These ´´Wolkengesichter´´ are contourless replacements that are part of a conservation concept from the 1940s. Within the scope of the conservation project which started in 2017 the question was raised how to handle these replacements according to current standards and demands. This thesis is to be understood as a basis for the discussion. It gives a closer look on the ´´Wolkengesichter´´ themselves and considers different aspects concerning keeping or redesigning these replacements.
