Overview:

Abstract: This thesis compares examination methods of block excavations such as x-ray and computer tomography with the results of the uncovering of archaeological finds. The planning of the excavation and the required materials and tools, as well as the storage conditions will be described. Following on from this comparison, the examination using uncovering, x-ray and tomography and the results of the applied methods will be described. This work was underpinned with data from the block excavation of tomb 740 situated in the burial ground of Dunum (rural district Wittmund / North Germany). The said excavation was examined by medical x-ray and computed tomography.
