Overview:

Abstract: In the course of this Bachelor-Thesis, a Hanukkah-Candelabra from the Lippischen Landesmuseum in Detmold was described and studied in detail.
The relevance of the candelabra for the Jewish culture formed the basis for gaining some knowledge about the origins and use of this object. Thereafter, samples of the various materials were taken from the object and then analysed by the scientific laboratory of the Department for Conservation and Restoration at the University of Applied Sciences in Erfurt. In addition, some types of damage and their sources were pointed out. Measurements of the climate inside the showcase exemplify the current storage conditions.
Based on the knowledge gained, a concept of measures was established which is meant to ensure the preservation of this Hanukkah-Candelabra for future generations.
