Overview:

Abstract: This bachelor thesis focuses on the reactivation of the remarkable locking mechanism fitted to the chest of the bagger-, glove maker- and leather trader-guild of Erfurt.
The basis for this work is provided by thorough historical and technical research. The gained knowledge regarding the cultural relevance of the chest, together with the examination of the damage, serves as a starting point for the establishment of a concept for the presentation and conservation of the guild-chest.
As part of the thesis the restoration of the functionality of mechanical devices are put up for
discussion.
Realised measures are presented and an outlook on further treatment is given.
