Abstract: The Grisaille paintings of the late renaissance are rapidly decaying due to weathering, exposure to sunlight and a high concentration of damaging salts. The conception contains the reduction of a gipsum crust, consolidation of the detached plaster and layers of painting as well as the reducion of damaging salt concentration.
