Kerstin Riepenhausen: A comparison of dye analytical methods on the example of prehispanic fabrics from Peru back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Dye analytical methods are applied to pre-Columbian fabrics from Peru, compa¬red and evaluated from the
textile conservator’s point of view. Some threads sampled from a fabric of the Late Intermediate Period are
examined by speciali¬zed institutes with the following methods: UV-Vis-NIR-reflectance-spectroscopy, SERS
(applied with silver colloids in a gel and in situ on a single fibre) combined with ESI-MS, micro¬che¬mi¬cal
tests, thin layer chromatography, HPLC-DAD and UHPLC-DAD. Mordant analysis by XRF and EDX are also
dis¬cus¬sed. Following this, red, blue and violet colours of twelve Peruvian textiles from the
Rau¬tenstrauch-Joest-Museum Cologne are examined by Vis-reflectance-spec¬tros¬copy and UHPLC-DAD.
