Abstract: This thesis deals with papyri which may have become contaminated by microorganisms. Various sampling methods of paper conservation will be applied on papyri and checked regarding their suitability for papyrus conservation. An additional objective is to find out whether exists a possible connection between observed hazes, which can appear on the glass of archived papyri, and the incidence of microorganisms.
The papyri which need to be examined are objects of the Papyrus Collection of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
