Abstract: | Compared to solid wood, Multiplex (ply wood) is distinguished by its high strength, dimensional accuracy and deformation resistance. Since the beginning of the 20th Century, the material is produced industrially and used in various ways. The modern Multiplex furniture object Cinderella table, from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, is characterised by its flowing and extraordinary design. The object was used as an example to study the material itself and to examine the influence of the material as well as its construction and manufacturing relating to the occurred damage. In addition to a conservation concept, all theoretical considerations and recommendations for monitoring are explained in the presentation. |
