Abstract: The ivory inlaid table bureau made of ebony examined in this work, was produced about 1740 in Vizagapatam/ India. Outfitted with a mirror, it may as well have been used as a toilet glass placed on a dressing table. This ist one of the results of the exhaustive investigation within this diploma thesis. It gives informations about the table bureau’s history, construction, techniques of manufacture, materials and damages. Furthermore it documents the extensive restoration in written as well as in illustrated form.
