Abstract: By means of rock art as case study, the thesis addresses World Heritage nomination and preservation practice.
Studying our perception and understanding of rock art and the causes of its endangering, the paper asks for how preservation could evolve to a constructive and creative, socially and culturally meaningful process going beyond mere protection.
