Overview:

Abstract: This restorative-structural survey explores the material-tinged outer-facade of the Lesinng-Lodge "Druidenorden e.V., built in Peine in 1926. Specifically designed for this Lodge's purposes, the edifice was constructed as a massive building rendered with patent plaster, stone plaster and concrete work. Basically, the building's formation results from the various surface treatments the plasters were submitted to. Considering the facade surface's "young" age, it shows substantial weathering-typical material-nature, negatively affect the state of the facade surface. Another problem is the corrosion of reinforced building steel armorings. On the basis of the restaurative findings and starting with the causes of damage, a comprehensive and efficient concept for the preservation of the entire facade will be developed, including cleaning the facade, gypsum reduction, repairing the concrete-steel-compound, and long term maintenance of the surfaces. At the end of my thesis, I will offer concrete suggestions and further considerations with regard to the perspectives of the builing's preservation.
