Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The thesis is about the sandstone reliefs of the Temple Bakong in Cambodia. The focus lies in the
documentation and the analysis of the reliefs as well as in the development and the implementation of a
suitable conservation concept on selected exemplary areas.Initially the temple and the reliefs will be
conceived in their historico-cultural and their art historically meaning. Based on different investigation
methods the stock and the condition will be analyzed. The main weathering problem is the sensitivity of the
clay bounded sandstone towards humidity. The characteristics of the stone will be defined which helps to
develop and realize a conservation concept.
