Overview:

Abstract: The topic of the present diploma thesis are decorative glass mosaics from the Bassinhalle of the ladies bath at the former Admiralspalast in Berlin, Germany. This glass mosaic was installed in 1911 by (the company) Puhl & Wagner. It was removed in 1988 and stored in a depot as fragments for the last 14 years.
Within the scope of this work a preservation and restoration plan for the examined fragment was developed. The investigation of the used material and technology led to the understanding of certain aspects of Puhl & Wagners special technique. Extensive analyses of the original plasters have enlarged the knowledge about materials and processes. The developed supplement mortars allow the filling of defects in a preservatory and restoratory manner.
