Ragna Krutzger: The efficiency of common biocides used on selected binders back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: Testing the effect of biocides on three common microorganisms on selected binders, this bachelor thesis is aimed at working out a practicable and user-friendly method of fighting mould on coloured wooden objects. All chosen fungicides are tested on five binders after mould has been stimulated to form on them. Using different concentrations within 70 per cent isopropyl, they are dropped or sprayed on the mould. Afterwards, the treated objects are put on a culture medium to test the fungicide or fungistatic effect. This analysis promises findings that would allow restorers a more targeted course of action in their practice.

The paper offers a first insight into a more comprehensive future concept that will consider the complete buildup of a coloured wooden object, respectively the buildup of a painting.
