Temperature Stabilisation in Transportation Cases for Art Objects – Application of Phase Change Materials This diploma thesis deals with the climate in transportation cases for art objects. First the influence of climatic parameters on objects, the conditions during transportation phases and the special climatic conditions in packages are examined. Further on the thermo-physical basics were compiled to provide the basis for the calculation of a transportation box. The results emphasise the importance of temperature stabilisation through suitable insulation and heat storage. Phase change materials are very effective in heat storage and will be studied for the use in the transportation of art objects. Suitable materials were chosen and examined.
