Zusammenfassung: This diploma thesis deals with the conservation of the painting Kirchplatz in Oberau (1947)
by the Tyrolean artist Anton Kirchmayr. The picture is painted in oil on a fibreboard panel.
Extensive brown stains on the surface, likewise mechanical damage to the support detract
from its aesthetic appearance. Conservation is carried out based on scientific analyses. The
theoretical part of the thesis discusses fibreboards as painting supports and their technological composition. The practical work focuses on restoring a condition that complies with presentation.
To find a suitable filling for wholes in fibreboards, test series were carried out with different filling and binding materials.
