| Zusammenfassung: | This thesis documents the inventory, condition and conservation treatment of the Aichersäule (1645), a plague cross in Weidling (Lower Austria). Furthermore, the development of plague monuments throughout the history of the epidemic in Lower Austria is illustrated considering different shapes and occasions for their erection. The Aichersäule is an example of different conservation problems for small monuments, therefore different solutions to deal with those will be discussed. Main focus of the thesis is to discuss different kinds of mixed fitting connections of construction parts from ancient to current times used in the context of conservation. Those connections are often irreversible connected and consequently cause problems for their dismantling and reinstalling in course of conservation. The conservation concept should be applicable for the treatment of similar objects. |
