| Zusammenfassung: | This Batchelor-Thesis deals with a Chinese picture in the Foundation Schloss Friedenstein Gotha, which had been acquired in the 19th century from China. The main problem with this picture is that the paper is becoming brittle because of a low pH. In order to rectify this problem, a concept is being established through analysis and research on the picture and the other parts of the whole object. Furthermore, the historical background of the object is being discussed, although some points, like the genre, the artist und the time of the creation of the picture remain unresolved. In this thesis, the process of analysis, research and discussion is being presented. The objective is to ensure that the picture is safe, based on the results of the theoretical research. A new carrier will be manufactured for the picture, aiming at a solution in which the picture is not solidly fixed to the carrier. Therefore, an innovative form of carrier will be developed, which conforms with the Chinese tradition. A climate control is suggested for the preservation of the object, with a temperature between 18 and 22 C and a relative humidity of 50% to 60%. |
