| Zusammenfassung: | Subject of this diploma thesis is an original Chinese wallpaper of the 18th century from the „Sommerpalais” in Greiz, Thuringia. Like most of the Chinese wallpapers in European castles, it consists of two pasted thin paper layers. The traditional mounting on the wall bases on a textile support with layers of wastepaper within. This combination was fixed directly onto the wall, not – as usual – on a wooden frame. Beside the description and the examination of date and condition (results of the preceding semester), the different undertaken measures are described by means of single length. The main emphasis lies on cleaning with special regard to the coating, which disturbed the impression, and on remounting the object. Because of conservational reasons the original mounting system had to be replaced. Further on, for a future presentation in the "Sommerpalais", preventive measures are suggested. |
