Zusammenfassung: Stone monuments are subject to constant decay. Causes are mainly physical, chemical and biological environmental influences. Therefore, in the past, many monuments have been comprehensively preserved. The aim of this thesis is, to do a survey on durability of past restorations, at objects in environmental affected areas, by using less-destructive examination techniques. Such can be: a quantitative calculation of damages, testing capillary water absorption according to Karsten and Mirowski, analyzing peel and abrasion resistance and doing a SEM examination. To ensure an estimation of conditions, have been studied areas, consolidated with ethyl silicate and areas smoothened with Motema comparatively to reference surfaces. Here, the combined studies showed off to be a very good approach to detect reduced effectiveness and to quantify it. In addition, these investigations act as referee for renewed monitoring, based on competent knowledge.
