Zusammenfassung: The Linck pharmacist family established the wood collection in the 18th century. It still belongs
to one of the oldest preserved xylotheques in Germany and provides 810 different small timber boards, which are stored in a cupboard. During the 1970s the specimens were treated with DDT and Lindane, containing wood preservative Hylotox 59. The aim of the thesis is to diminish the disease burden of biocides in such manner that a restoration of the cupboard is enabled; so as
to reintegrate it into the exhibition that no health hazard exists for visitors and museum staff. The material composition of the diverse timber boards and its original labels demanded the development of a suitable and gentle method. Liquid carbon dioxide was applied. A plant for industrial goods cleaning was used to test specimens in order to investigate the behavior of the timber boards and the opted decrease of the biocides. Vacuum washing was applied to decontaminate the surface of the cupboard. The method´s possibilities and limits were tested on furnishings. Additionally a concept for reactivation of the damaged drawers had been developed and realized.
