Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The conservation of scraps and chromos has been neglected in research until now, as they were considered as not valuable. The growing recognition of scraps over the past decades calls for a new approach to this subject. This paper compiles essential knowledge on the history and development of scraps, as well as their conservation. An examination of the materials and the causes of their damages initiate the outline of a conservation treatment. In this context a scrapbook with scraps dated 1886 to 1946 taken of the collection from the Museum Europäischer Kulturen Berlin were restored.
