Overview:

Abstract: The aim of the thesis is the development of a stone repair mortar for the restoration of the temples of Naga/Sudan. The mortar should be based on a lime-cement binder compound and mixed with stone powder as aggregate, which can be produced in situ by cutting and sieving the Naga-sandstone.
The first part is focused on the antique town Naga/Sudan. Descriptions of the condition of the temples and especially of the Naga-sandstone show the urgency of a complete conservation-concept. In the following part a program of examination for a the stone repair mortar is worked out. Mechanical and physical properties will be investigated. Also tested is the workability of the mortar and the optical adaptation.
