Anna Hesse: Loose painting fragments of the Amuntempel in Naga, Sudan back

Language: Original   -   Translation
Overview:

Abstract: The archaeological paintings of the Amuntempel in Naga, Sudan emphasise the complexity of mounting and presentation of wall paintings ex situ. After being incidentally burnt, the plaster of these wall paintings shows characteristics similar to burnt mud bricks and, as a result of the fire inside the temple, the paint layer might has changed its colour. The detailed examination of the painting technique, plaster and the archaeological context outline the criteria of conservation and presentation required for the special property of the wall painting.
