Abstract: The visible part of the medieval mural painting is located in the south-east-corner of the southern side aisle in St. Aegidii Church of Quedlinburg/Saxony-Anhalt. It represents the topic of this diploma thesis. Several influences like manufacturing techniques, environmental conditions and missing attention led up to today’s worrying condition. Aim of this paper is to develop a concept for the conservation. Thematic priority represents the practical application of the emergency steps. Addressed are also preventive measures and options to improve the appearance of the wall painting prospectively.
